Family Violence
It is a crime for any person to cause you any physical injury or harm, even if that person is a member or former member of your family or household.
As a victim of Family Violence, you have the right to:
♦ ASK the local prosecutor to file a criminal complaint against the person committing the family violence.
♦ APPLY to the district court for an order protecting you from the offender.
♦ APPLY for Crime Victims Compensation to assist you financially to cover medical expenses, counseling services, or relocation expenses incurred as a result of your victimization.
